Push.

Days when I lose sight of the future or wonder what it will take to get there, I find it's important to come back to the basics. Jordan, Logan, and I are all in that place… and need to remember what we had when we first arrived. East Coast Roots. Ambition and Drive. Vision, Volleyball, and Velocity. The slower pace can bring stagnancy…

Even though many love it here, there is also a discontentment and disconnect. I can feel the rumblings as I continue to meet people and engage others who wonder what it's like to find affordable housing, experience lush green grasses, and think about friendships beyond superficiality......

Unless you're able to push past the strong personalities, self involved "success" stories and wealth out the wazoo, you'll never survive. The emptiness is astounding. We freely admit that if we didn't have each other here, we wouldn't be able to stay. It is the weirdest thing.

Started my new schedule at Prudential today, working 3 days 9-5, and 2 days 9-1 due to staffing changes. A friend has offered me frequent flyer miles to use to travel home when Logan does next week, but I don't know if I can make it work. It would be awesome and so inspiring for me:)

The summer so far has been hard on Log and he is counting down the days til he heads home. I find he misses working hard, for others, and not simply for himself. Jobs are few and hard to come by here and a lot of kids live for themselves, as parents encourage them to do. Logan is bored.

Jordan will be joining us this weekend to head to the Bro-Am, organized by Switchfoot in San Diego, as a fundraiser for local kids charities. The two boys will have an awesome time! Switchfoot's music is near and dear to our hearts.......

One element that is missing for us here is "love"..... even though we have grown closer to a few. We are also closing in on the 3 year mark in a few short months and I think a few of us feel the effects of having no father. I do my best to help the boys but their dad brought them some kind of balance, or tried to, lol:)

As I had my first core and strengthening class for tonight, I realized that it's something I've "dreamt" of doing but never made happen. I always had others to take care of, but times are shifting.

Now, they are pushing me......
